Thom Rainer, President of LifeWay Christian Resources revealed last month, in his article, some of his lessons learned from his 20 years of consultations and dealing to and with more than 500 churches. He revealed four recurring themes why churches are struggling:
Leadership
He revealed that though church leaders were well trained theologically and biblically, they were still in trouble because of poor leadership skills and poor interpersonal skills. These leaders were not trained enough to lead an organization or deal with people, he asserted.
EvangelismIt is not that the congregations are doing poor but it is that the evangelistic works failed.
Eyes of an Outsider
Thom Rainer noted that church leaders were often shocked of first-time-guest/s’ observations. They seemed short of objective eyes.
Listening Ear
Church leaders are hurting and they need a listening ear and a promise of prayer.
Now, let us examine the church to which we belonged and observe if these recurring themes are true to our respective church leaders.
I would be glad if you could drop some opinions below regarding this matter.
Thank you.
“… the practice of the church is hostile to life (Nietzsche)”.
A century had passed and the church pulpits, as it was from the great roman times, continues to sanctify the importance on the conjectures of the unseen (the preservation of the holiness of THE HILL…) and dismissing that which is tangibles to the POOR which becomes directly opposed to the former (and BLESSED are the poor in SPIRIT… for they shall be rewarded in heaven). Unless WE (specially the LEADERS) go down from the pedestals of THE HILL and be one among with the FORESAKEN Souls of the earth, our Church will remains the OPIUM of the forsaken many.
You banged it on right on its head, Anawin. Centuries have passed but these leaders (kuno) can't understand to kneel or stoop and be equal to the FORESAKEN. They still wore the same design of Jesus clothing to conceal the erections of their libidos. If Jesus is here now, He surely will kick all those who made His house a marketplace as He did before. Look at those themes above.
do evangelism really failed? i think catholic church should focus more on this.
Hi, quadro. Assess it yourselves, feel and analyze it if the church you belonged failed in this aspect. In general, the assessment is nearer to truth than to false. Look at those cultist-orgs (sorry for this), they're sprouting everywhere. Some people are going out of the church. Can't this be an evidence of the the evangelical work failure?
